Amemait

Amemait
In Egyptian myth an animal monster, part crocodile, part lion, part hippo, which devoured the hearts of those who failed to pass the great balance, when weighed by Mayet or Maat in the presence of Thoth, as against the yellow feather (Maat) of virtue, as laid down in the Book of the Dead. Amemait was also an attendant of the Lord of Amenti, first region of the Place of Reeds, to whom were delivered for total destruction the souls and bodies of the unvirtuous.
